Recipe - Mango Matcha Tea

Summer is well and truly on the way here in the UK (holds breath whilst saying this). It is hands down my favourite time of the year! Nights get lighter, skin gets darker, days get hotter and drinks get colder. And there is nothing better than an icey drink on those hot summer days, and when you're keep it healthy it's a win win situation for everyone.


Below, I give you my take on Matcha and a delicious, mango and greens smoothie. But before we get into the hows here's a couple whats and whys? So, what is Matcha you ask? It started off as green tea leaf which is picked and stone ground in to the powder form it comes in. It is a powerful source of antioxidant with over 100 x the amount normal green tea has! Here are some of the reasons why Matcha is the new macho.

1) It gives you the amazing caffeine boost you would normally experience from a strong coffee. However it is natural and slow releasing so keeps you going throughout the day and doesn't leave you with the jitters!

2) It boosts your metabolism. Research shows that Matcha is proven to enhance your resting metabolic rate and aid fat loss during exercise (another bonus for the summer season).

3) Body detox in a packet. It boosts your immunity with it's high levels of antioxidants, chlorophyll and amino acids. It may be a detox tea but it's definitely not a teatox. Matcha does not use short term ingredients that act as laxatives and does not leave any dodgy side affects on your body!


What you will need
Spinach 
1/2 Avocado
1/2 Mango
Raspberries
Almond Milk
Ice
Blender or bullet

  • Take about half of the raspberries and place them at the bottom of your jar or glass, keep the rest to one side for decoration. Add the remaining ingredients in a large enough glass to blend them all together. 

  • Add a small glass of almond milk to the rest of the ingredients (can exchange for normal milk or coconut water if preferred.)



  • Add 2 x spoons of your Eat Clean Matcha to the glass. Don't be tempted to add more, a little goes a long way!


  • Blend the ingredients altogether until they come to a smooth liquid. At this stage you add water to get the desired consistency and thickness. The avocado acts as a thickening agent.


  • Top with the remaining raspberries for decoration, add a few straws, some ice cubes and ENJOY! It's as simple as that. Since this smoothie I have also tried various others and found that removing the avocado and blending in the raspberries give the tastiest summer matcha smoothie!
