Birchbox & Nicka K

Firstly, let me apologise for being MIA the last week or so. I received some gutting news last week and I've not been in the mood to write or post. However after a fun weekend back in Leeds with the girls I am back in full swing and fully motivated. So, let's not waste any more time, onwards and upwards!

If you follow me on Instagram (@andreainglis), you would of seen I posted an offer that Wowcher had for 5 months of Birchbox for £29 + £5 postage, overall saving you over half the original price. For those of you who don't know, Birchbox is a monthly subscription box in which you receive 5 high end beauty/makeup samples. I absolutely love a sample - one of the girls at uni calls me 'The Sample Queen'. The August box included 2 makeup samples and 4 others and was the theme #beautyjunkie.

My first makeup sample was Benefit's Highbeam which I've been dying to own since I had my makeup done at Benefit and used this. Highbeam is the perfect pink hue highlighter that suits all skin tones and leaves a gorgeous glow.

Secondly, I received this Lord & Berry blush in 'Lotus'. I've never tried any Lord & Berry products before so was excited to get this. That's the great thing about subscription boxes - you get to try items you normally wouldn't buy. This blush is such a versatile shade which can be built up for more of a night time look.

My favourite sample from the box is hands down the Beauty Protector, I've been using this product everyday since I received the box and I am IN LOVE! I'm a religious oil user as my hair is bleached and toned it can be very dry and knotty. This little red bottle is god sent and I will 100% be purchasing the full size when this runs out. I spray a reasonable amount in towel dried hair and style as normal. It detangles all knots and lets me brush through my hair without any problem AND it smells like candy floss - can't get any better than that!

Rituals Fortune Scrub claims to be a mixture of exfoliator and body wash. It smells really fresh. I'm yet to use this but after testing it on my hand I'm happy it has a good amount of exfoliating beads. I have a feeling Chris will be stealing this!

Huygens Exfoliating Cream (not photo'd as I've accidently left it in Leeds). This face scrub is gentle enough to use daily and smells like lemon and mint. So far so good!

This months Birchbox had a 6th bonus item which was the L. Erickson Grab & Go Ponytail Holder. I hardly wear my hair up unless I'm in bed or for training, so I don't really think these will benefit me. I'm still loving my invisibobbles so I've given these to my sister.

I was lucky enough to receive my first lot of 'blogger mail' last week C/O Beauty Crowd Pro and Nicka K. I was sent these 3 colours from their nail varnish collection. Unfortunately I can't swatch them on my nails ATM as I'm about to have my bridesmaid nails done. However I wore the red colour over the weekend and so far I'm pretty impressed. It's extremely pigmented and after 2 coats was completely opaque. The galaxy green colour seems to be just as opaque but the light blue not so much. All in all they are nice colours and the rose gold lid makes them look expensive and pretty. I'll definitely be getting wear out of the lighter blue one during summer and the green into Autumn. (I wear red all year round so it's perfect for me). Huge thank you to Nicka K and BC for this collaboration!
